Mapletree's 2031 HarbourFront Plan, CBD View

Published

A 33-storey office and retail development is scheduled to replace HarbourFront Centre, and the timetable for it has been published. 99.co reported on 9 October 2026 that Mapletree plans the redevelopment, that the centre is slated to close in the second half of 2026, and that the new development is due to complete in the first half of 2031. For anyone following where Singapore's workplace space is being added, the report supplies dated start and finish points.

The HarbourFront Office Plan, Noted from Cecil Place

According to 99.co, the redevelopment pairs the 33-storey tower with a 13,000 sqm elevated park and an adjacent waterfront promenade. The mix combines working floors, shops and public open space on a single waterfront site. 99.co places it within the Greater Southern Waterfront plans, which add workplaces and recreational spaces gradually as former port land becomes available, and gradual is the operative word: land is released in stages, and HarbourFront Centre is one stage with a stated calendar.

The calendar has two anchors. 99.co gave the closure as the second half of 2026, and the completion as the first half of 2031. Between those dates the site moves from a trading centre to a construction site and then to the new office and retail address. The report quotes those two dates, and they are the ones used here.

Circle Line Stage 6 and the Southern CBD, for Cecil Place Readers

The rail side of the story is already complete. 99.co noted that Circle Line Stage 6 opened on 12 July 2026, with Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward Road stations added between HarbourFront and Marina Bay, and that the Circle Line has become a full loop. As 99.co described it, the south of the island gains a more direct line to Marina Bay and the southern CBD.

99.co pairs the rail link and the redevelopment as parts of one waterfront story, and the dates sit side by side: July 2026 for the stations, 2031 for the new development. Before 12 July 2026 the two ends of the line were not joined, and 99.co presents the three new stations as the link between them. The Marina Bay end of that link is the part that reaches the central business district, which is why the report singles out the southern CBD in its description of the opening.

Cecil Place Readers: The Dates in Order

Taken together, the report yields a short sequence. Stage 6 opened on 12 July 2026, per 99.co. The closure of HarbourFront Centre follows in the second half of 2026, and its replacement, a 33-storey tower with an elevated park, is due in the first half of 2031. Each date is attributed to the outlet, and no further milestones are quoted. The span they bracket runs from the second half of 2026 to the first half of 2031, and 99.co frames the whole of it as one phase in the gradual conversion of former port land into workplaces and recreational space.
